Vince Kornegay “No pharmaceutical product could ever equal the rush you get when the band hits that groove; the people are dancin', and shoutin', and swayin'; and the house is rockin'!” - Elwood Blues Everyone thinks the musician life is all party and little work. Many never realize the work that actually goes into it. Yes, we are passionate about what we do... and that’s what makes it suck even more when the crowd’s not diggin’ what you’re doing. I can’t speak for any other musician, but FOR ME, I am a different performer when the crowd is into it rather than when you have to work a room and nobody’s with you. The music’s got more feeling, you feel energized, you’re voice is stronger, and so on... i’ve told you all that there are nights when the gig was so good that I had (jokingly) considered quitting everything else and doing this fill time. Well, there’s the other side of the coin that when you bomb a room or people just dont care to come see you that you feel like quitting music.. I had one of those nights recently. Just being honest. It’s disheartening to walk into a room and play for 4 hours and feel like no one could care less. BUT... there are nights, like tonight, that boost your spirits and remind you how good things can be and remind you that you love this stuff.
